MISSOULA - Junior guard Ryan Staudacher scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Montana Grizzlies to a 75-67 win over UM-Western Monday at Dahlberg Arena.
The Bulldogs (4-3), an NAIA team from the Frontier Conference, took a 31-30 lead on a three-pointer by Chad Myers with 2:04 left until intermission.
The Grizzlies (1-1) regained the lead for good on a jumper by senior forward Jordan Hasquet, making it 32-31 UM with 46 second remaining until half.
Montana maintained its lead throughout the second half, but Western made it a one-point game (61-60) on a three-pointer by Myers with 4:34 left in the contest. The Grizzlies out-scored the Bulldogs 12-3 after that and took a 73-63 lead with 55 seconds left on a free throw by junior guard Anthony Johnson.
Johnson finished with 14 points and Selvig and Hasquet each scored 11. Hasquet added 11 rebounds.
Terry Hauser led Western with 15 points while Myers and Layne Glaus tallied 13 apiece.
