Brockton Warriors

Record last season: 11-7

Coach: Tom Escarcega (1st season)

Returning starters: Trent Boyd, Jason Bird, Anthony Spotted Bird.

Other key players: Brady Johnson, Keith Belgarde, Hunter Walking Eagle, Sean Black Dog.

Coach Escarcega says: “We will surprise teams within our conference.”

Circle Wildcats

Record last season: 12-9

Coach: Colby Loudon (3rd season)

Returning starters: Bryan Gardner, Sr., center; Ike Hill, Sr., guard; Brock Loudon, So., guard; Trevor Klepplid, guard.

Other key players: Paul Schillinger, So., center; Jordan Haynie, Jr., guard; Brett Beery, forward.

Noteworthy: Gardner was all-conference last year. … Ike Hill was on the all-conference defensive team.

Coach Loudon says: “The Eastern C is still very tough and we are looking to be one of the teams at the top.”

Culbertson Cowboys

Record last season: 24-5, fourth at state

Coach: Matt Stentoft (1st season)

Returning starters: Alex Weeks, 6-3, Sr., forward; Wenden Martell, 6-3, Sr., small forward; Fred Lester, 5-11, Sr., guard; Nick Oelkers, 5-10, Jr., point guard.

Other key players: Jackson Bolstad, 6-4, Sr., center; Devin Gossage, 5-9, Sr., guard; Darren Buxbaum, 6-3, Sr., forward.

Noteworthy: Weeks was all-conference last year. … Martell made the all-state tourney team. … Bolstad will be a starter this season.

Coach Stentoft says: “If we bring a great work ethic and a team-first mentality we have a chance to be successful.”

Fairview Warriors

Record last year: 15-8.

Coach: Luke Kloker, (6th season, 84-43 at Fairview).

Returning starters: Ty Hurley, 6-4, Sr.; Josh Taylor, 5-10, Sr.; Colby McGinnis, 6-foot, Sr.; Brandon Kittleson, 5-7, Sr.

Other key players: Tim Hurley, 6-foot, So.; Beau Nelson, 6-1, Jr.; Brock Schriver, 6-foot, Fr.; Anthony Lebsock, 5-11, Jr.; Blake Reynolds, 5-9, Jr.; Cody Vitt, 6-foot, Fr.

Noteworthy: Hurley was first-team all-conference and averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds per contest last year. … Taylor was a first-team all-conference pick and scored 10 points and grabbed seven boards per game. … Kittleson was second-team all-conference defense. … All but one starter returns.

Coach Kloker says: “We have an extremely hard working group of boys who play very well together. We look forward to improving each week and challenging for a divisional tourney berth.”

Froid-Lake Redhawks

Record last season: 14-10

Coach: Josh Stentoft (9th season)

Returning starters: Michael Rieter, Paul Engstrom, Michael O’Toole, Brady Berntson.

Other key players: Joseph Anderson, Charles Fourbear, Tristan Lonebear.

Noteworthy: Rieter was on the all-defensive first team. … Berntson was on the all-defensive second team.

Coach Stentoft says: “We will be a competitive team this year.”

Richey-Lambert Fusion

Record last season: 17-8

Coach: Ira Lake (2nd season)

Returning starters: Jeremy Evenson, 5-10, Jr., guard; Caleb Servais, 5-11, Sr., forward.

Other key players: Charlie Switzer, 5-11, So., guard; Jack Switzer, 5-11, Jr., forward; Levi Helmuth, 6-2, Sr., center.

Noteworthy: The Fusion have two seniors on their 10-man roster.

Coach Lake says: “It is a very tough conference because most are even in talent and return many starters from last year.”

Savage Warriors

Record last season: 6-16

Coach: Bart Haflich (3rd season)

Returning starters: Braden Ler, 6-4, So., post; Chris Reynolds, 5-11, So., guard; Shad Stanford, 6-1, So., guard; Matt Trzinski, 6-foot, Jr., post.

Other key players: Colin Basta, 5-10, Jr., guard; Wyatt Hagler, 6-2, Fr., post; Lawrence Hergenrider, 5-11, Fr., guard.

Coach Haflich says: “Staying injury free and out of foul trouble will be vital to our success this year. If we can do those two things we feel that we can be very competitive in the district.”

Coach Marottek says: “We are a young team with veteran leadership in key positions. We should have a successful season if our players come together as a team.”
