BOISE, Idaho — Camila Noe of Bozeman finished first and four other Montana girls crossed the finish line in the top 20, and the Bozeman boys won the team championship Saturday in the Nike Cross Northwest Regional at the Eagle Island Cross Country Course.

Noe's time of 17 minutes and 13.5 seconds is a course record for a 5K. Tiahna Vladic of Billings Senior was eighth, Bryn Morley of Bigfork 10th, Ella Degrandpre of Missoula Hellgate 14th and Annie Hill of Kalispell Glacier 18th.

The Bozeman girls finished first as a team and earned an automatic berth to the Nike Cross Nationals Dec. 2 in Portland. 

On the boys side, Duncan Hamilton Jr. of Bozeman finished second in 15:16.9, 10 seconds behind James Mwaura of Lincoln High School in Seattle. The Bozeman boys team will not make a return trip to defend their national title after a fourth-place finish. 

The event features runners from seven states in the Pacific Northwest.
