Longtime 6-Man football rivals Highwood and Geraldine will join forces this fall.
Fittingly, the mascot for the new co-op will be the Rivals. Team colors will be black and blue.
"It's a done deal. It was passed by both school boards and approved by the MHSA," Highwood superintendent Becky Aaring told the Great Falls Tribune. "We've purchased all of the updated uniforms."
Since Montana reinstated 6-Man football in 1982, Highwood has played in 13 state championship games and won 11, while Geraldine has played in 10 title games, winning four.
The two schools played each other in the 6-Man championship game in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2002 and 2008.
Longtime Geraldine coach Rodney Tweet, who has a career record of 154-52, will be the head coach.
