SHEPHERD -- Brandon Arlian has been promoted to head football coach at Shepherd High School and will begin his duties Friday, athletic director Jeff Armstrong said Wednesday.

Arlian succeeds Adam Sanchez, who resigned in January after six years. He has been an assistant coach the past two seasons and also is a boys basketball assistant at Shepherd.

The graduate of Big Timber's Sweet Grass High School played four years of football at Carroll College.

"He is very excited for the opportunity to lead our program and he has a great rapport with our kids," Armstrong said.

Arlian also is a kindergarten teacher at Shepherd's elementary school.
