Hazardous air quality in western Montana on Thursday has forced the cancellation of a pair of prep soccer matches, a varsity and a sub-varsity football game and a change of venue for two additional soccer contests.
Tonight’s 7 p.m. Class AA football game at Missoula County Stadium between Great Falls Russell and Missoula Big Sky has been postponed. The game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Friday in Bigfork.
Big Sky activities director Brian Fortmann told the Missoulian earlier in the day the boys’ and girls’ soccer matches the Eagles were scheduled to host against Western AA foe Kalispell Flathead on Thursday afternoon will not be played today. A makeup date has yet to be confirmed for those matches as well.
Fortmann also said Big Sky’s sophomore football game at home Thursday against CMR has been canceled.
In addition, the Southern A boys’ and girls’ soccer matches between Frenchtown and Corvallis, originally to be played in Corvallis, have been moved to Frenchtown. The boys’ match will begin at 4 p.m. and the girls will play at 6 p.m.
