CASPER, Wyo. - Just in case it ever comes up, there is now a procedure for how to break a four-way tie for determining Wyoming high school football playoff spots.
The Wyoming High School Activities Association board of directors approved the procedure Tuesday during a meeting in Casper.
Under the new procedure, there will be two half games played at a neutral site between the four teams if head-to-head and common opponent tiebreakers fail to break the tie.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports the board also voted unanimously to alter the running clock for football games with a 45-point differential between the teams. The clock will continue to run even if the game becomes closer.
The board also said it will explore adding a similar provision for basketball games.
