GLASGOW — The Glasgow Scotties will forfeit their first-place district volleyball trophy after the team was found to be in violation of Montana High School Association rules.
MHSA Executive Director Mark Beckman confirmed to 406mtsports.com on Monday that the Scotties brought in outside individuals to practice with the team who were ineligible to participate. Beckman said they did not do it often, but enough to be found in violation of the MHSA's rules.
Only students and members affiliated with the school that meet eligibility requirements are allowed to participate in practices.
The penalty was Glasgow had to forfeit their first-place trophy from the District 2B tournament to Wolf Point. The Scotties will take second.
The Scotties are still eligible to play in the Northern B Divisional this weekend in Malta, and will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed from the 2B.
