BOZEMAN -- The defending state A champion Laurel Locomotives used a strong second day to win the annual Tom LeProwse Battle in the Bridgers wrestling tourney here Saturday.
Host Bozeman held a 121.5 to 120 lead over Laurel heading into day two. However, Laurel chugged to the championship Saturday, finishing with 197.5 points to Billings Skyview's 178. Bozeman finished third with 174.5.
Billings West was sixth with 147.5, while Senior was seventh with 146.5.
Returning to action for the first time this season after a football injury, Dylan Kramer was first at 171. Karson Kukes (119), Kolter Kukes (135), Tommy Cooper (152) and Austin Boucher (215) were runners-up for Laurel.
The Falcons sat fourth after Friday's competition. Skyview's Clay Cathey (130) continued his unbeaten season and was also named the tourney's Outstanding Wrestler. Fellow Falcon Thomas Walsh was the champion at 215.
For Senior, Matt Schmidt (98) and Ben Sulser (160) were champions. West's Jake Leinwand (189) also claimed first place.
There was no quick-pin winner named.
