BUTTE — The Billings Bulls bounced back from a five-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Butte Roughriders at the Butte Community Ice Center on Saturday night.
Nicholas Scheafer, Josh Albright and Keith Tessin broke open a 2-1 contest with goals in the final period to put the pesky Roughriders away. Backup goalie Andrew Sherman improved to 3-2 on the year, saving 24 of 25 shots and picked up an assist on a Jason Effertz goal in the first period.
The goals by Albright and Tessin were their first of the year. Albright has been with the team all season, while Tessin made his debut in Friday night’s game against the Helena Bighorns.
“The first period we came out and played a bit tentative. I think we were a little bit down from some of our losses,” said Bulls coach Mike Hass.
“We were getting back to our old form in the second and third period and pulled away at the end with our hard work.”
The Bulls return home today for a 5:30 p.m. game with the Bozeman IceDogs at Centennial Ice Arena.
