CODY, Wyo. -- Joe Cardarelli has been named the new coach for the Yellowstone Quake, the NorPac Junior A hockey club announced on Wednesday.
Cardarelli, who will leave his job as director of hockey operations for the Charlotte Metro Hockey Association and head coach of the Charlotte Jr. Checkers of the Carolina Hockey League, agreed to a two-year contract with the Quake.
"The Quake organization has shown a willingness to grow and move players to the next level," Cardarelli said in a press release from the club. "To me, the most important aspect of junior hockey is the ability of the organization to put more emphasis on promoting players than win-loss record."
Cardarelli has had previous coaching stints at American International College, the National Sports Academy, Oswego State, and he is also active in USA Hockey, coaching at the Select 14, Select 15, Select 16 or Select 17 National Player Development Festivals in each of the past 10 summers.
The Quake have reached the NorPac playoffs in each of the past three seasons.
