Travis Bunker collected a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds as Montana State Billings won its home opener on Saturday night, beating Montana Western 81-76 at Alterowitz Gymnasium.

The Yellowjackets, 1-1 on the young season, also received 20 points from Michael Hall and Derrick Wright. Mario Burns added 15 points, eight assists and five steals, while Brad Hodge chipped in with 11 rebounds and nine points.

With the victory, MSUB halted a 13-game losing streak dating back to last season. The Yellowjackets pulled away from the Bulldogs in the game's final seven minutes.

"I feel really good about our performance tonight," said new head coach George Pfeifer. "In the second half we shot 54 percent and we held them under 40 percent in both halves."

Montana Western, 4-3, had five players in double figures, with Chad Myers leading the way with 18 points. Garrett Fink finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

The Bulldogs fired in 12 3-pointers.

MSUB will be at home on Wednesday for a game against the University of Mary.

Rocky Mountain men 91, Blue Angels 83

HELENA - Senior guard Chase Sukut scored 21 points Saturday night as Rocky Mountain College beat the Blue Angels 91-83 during an exhibition game at the Mountain West Classic men's basketball tournament.

Sukut, who buried five 3-pointers, was one of four Battlin' Bears players to score points in double figures. Devin Uskoski finished with 19, followed by Nate Richardson 17 and James Bulluck 13.

Uskoski collected 12 rebounds and Richardson handed out seven assists.

Ex-Rocky player Jake Stuart led the Blue Angels with 21 pionts. Pete Conway added 17, Alvis Dowiels 11 and Aaron Rich 10.

The Bears led 42-41 at halftime. Rocky made 11 3-pointers, but shot just 40.5 percent from the field.

The Rocky men, 6-1 overall, will be back in action this Friday and Saturday at the Dickinson (N.D.) State tournament. The Bears will play Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday and host Dickinson State on Saturday.

Minot St. women 71, Rocky Mountain 70

Minot State outscored Rocky Mountain College by 15 points in the second half to win 71-70 Saturday night at the Clocktower Inn women's basketball tournament at the Fortin Center.

The Beavers, 4-2, trailed 36-22 at intermission, but shot 55 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes. Eight of Minot State's 16 second-half field goals were 3-pointers.

Sam Medcalf led the way with 16 points, followed by MacKenzie Mack with 15 and Holly Siverling with 11.

Rocky, 3-6, received 18 points and nine rebounds from Janie Rayback. Liz Lewis added 17 points and Shaylynn Conroy 11.

Dani Henderson had nine rebounds and Lewis six assists.

The Battlin' Bears shot 45 percent in the second half.

Rocky will be playing at the Dickinson State Tournament next weekend. The Bears will face Black Hills State on Friday and DSU on Saturday.

Wyoming men 105 Johnson & Wales 64

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Brandon Ewing was one of six Cowboys to score in double figures as Wyoming routed Johnson & Wales 105-64 on Saturday night.

The Cowboys (3-0) never trailed and were never threatened by Johnson & Wales (1-4). Wyoming scored the game's first 11 points and led 26-8 just seven minutes into the contest, before leading 55-29 at halftime.

Ewing paced Wyoming with 20 points and seven assists.

Sean Ogirri added 18 points, followed by Tyson Johnson with 16, Afam Muojeke and A.J. Davis with 14 points each and Mikhail Linskens with 12 points and 12 rebounds. All nine Cowboys who played got in the scoring column.

Johnson & Wales was paced by Sasha Pate with 14 points, followed by Andrew Baker with 13 and Ethan Evenson with 11.
