After averaging 92 points in three exhibition victories, the Montana State Billings women's basketball team begins the season in earnest with a home game against Colorado State-Pueblo tonight.
The season opener for both teams will begin at 7 p.m. at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
The Yellowjackets were 11-16 last season, while the Thunder Wolves were 21-10 and won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title.
MSUB began the season with exhibition wins over Frontier Conference teams Rocky Mountain College (twice) and Montana Western. CSU-Pueblo lost to Division I Northern Colorado, 70-53 in an exhibition game.
Yellowjacket Alira Carpenter begins her march to become the program's all-time leading scorer. The senior guard from Lewistown enters the season with 1,399 career points and needs 232 to pass career leader Tera Silvius (1,630). Carpenter already holds the career (213) and single-season (88) 3-point records for MSUB. She averaged 20.1 points a game last season, earning first-team all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference honors.
