SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Montana and Wyoming track and field athletes fared well in the Golden West Invitational over the weekend by winning two titles.
Lena Suek of Havre won the javelin with a throw of 138-9 and Carli Blankenship of Cody, Wyo. was the winner of the B section 800 meter run in 2:15. Suek also placed 15th in the discus at 125-0.
Jennifer Walter of Huntley Project was second in the B section of the 300 hurdles, finishing in 45.13.
Two Whitefish athletes each got a fifth place, Taylor Ferda in the 110 hurdles (14.84) and Chris Hicks in the triple jump (45-5 ½). Hardin's Brian Vallie ran a 1:53.03 to take sixth in the 800.
Ben Peterson of Cody was sixth in the pole vault, going 16-3. Ben Soukup of Sheridan, Wyo. ran a 44.34 to take fourth in the B section 300 hurdles. Sheridan's Shelley Forbes was seventh in the mile (5:03.99) and Cody's Alicia Reaser was 11th in the pole vault (11-0).
