Daniel Chang had a hat trick, and Paul Hoffman and Justin Bonanno each scored twice to lift the Billings Bulls to an 8-3 victory over Gillette Friday night at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark.
It was the Bulls' third straight victory at Rimrock Auto Arena. Billings has outscored opponents 23-8 in those games. They'll play at Rimrock Auto Arena for the final time this season when they host Helena Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
"We came out with a lot of good energy and got a couple goals in early," Bulls coach Chris Hartly said. "We got the lead, had some good jump and attacked and had a lot of chances. And we finished strong. Overall, we're really happy with the effort and the outcome."
Chang, the Bulls' leading scorer, assisted on a third-period goal from Bonanno and finished with four points. Colby Spoonemore dished out four assists. Goalie Konstantin Chistov had 27 saves for the Bulls.
Adam Pecht had a pair of goals for Gillette.
Saturday's game is the Bulls first meeting with Helena since winning 4-3 in the capital city on Dec. 17. That victory ended a long losing streak to Helena that dated back to 2008.
Billings currently sits nine points back of the second-place Bighorns in the AWHL standings.
"The fact that we were finally able to get past them gave our guys a big confidence boost," Hartly said. "Since then we've had some big games and we've been building. So we're really looking forward to how it plays out."
