LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Golden Ticket got Magic City Thoroughbred Partners off to a winning start Thursday afternoon at Churchill Downs.
The 4-year-old thoroughbred, owned by Carter Stewart and Ken Schlenker of Billings, won a $57,000 allowance optional claiming race.
Golden Ticket, who was the favorite, covered the one mile in 1:34.56 -- and picked up $34,200 in winnings.
He was ridden in the nine-horse field by Joel Rosario and trained by Ken McPeek.
Golden Ticket pulled into the lead with a furlong to go and won by 2 1/2 lengths. He paid $4.40, $3.00, $2.60.
Shared Property was second and Mr. Bowling was third.
Stewart and Schlenker will have Frac Daddy running in Saturday's Kentucky Derby. Rosario will be riding the favorite Orb.
