Baseball

Billings Royals Offense/Defense Camp

The Billings Royals Offense/Defense Camp is May 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those ages 9-15 at Urbaska Field.

The fee is $70 per camper, which includes a T-shirt. The camp is limited to the first 60 paid players. Campers must bring their glove, bat, spikes and water bottle. There will be a barbecued hamburger lunch provided by Big Sky Little League Baseball.

Instructors are Royals coach Greg Steffanich, Royals assistant Terry Wink, Blue Jays coach Scott Hayden and Blue Jays assistant Marty Edwards along with Billings Royals players.

Osos Camp

Iowa standout sophomore Matt McDonough will again be the main counselor at the Osos Wrestling Camp Aug. 5-7 at Billings West.

McDonough was also at the previous year's Osos Camp.

McDonough, the 2010 NCAA 125-pound wrestling champion, finished second at the weight this year. In the finals he was topped 7-1 by No. 1 seed and undefeated Anthony Robles of Arizona State.

McDonough finished the season 27-2 and has a 64-3 two-year career mark for the Hawkeyes. He was a three-time Iowa state champion in high school.

The camp director is West coach Jeremy Hernandez. West assistants Joe Rambin, Jason Aguayo and Todd Rose round out the staff.

The cost is $100, or $130 for wrestlers needing host families. Commuting wrestlers need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries and swimsuit. All wrestlers need to bring workout gear, wrestling shoes and running shoes.

The deadline to register in time to get a camp T-shirt is July 1.

Longest Dam Race

FORT PECK - The 17th Annual Longest Dam Race will be June 18.

The event features a 10k run, 5k walk or run and a 10-mile novice bike race. There are four age brackets and the first race will begin at 8 a.m.

Early registration must be postmarked by May 31. The cost is $18 for each participant for one event, $10 for participants 14 and younger and $5 for each additional event. After May 1, the costs are $20 for adults and $14 for those 14 and younger. The fee includes a T-shirt and the first 75 entrants receive a free ticket to the Fort Peck Summer Theater performance of Chicago.
