Registration is currently underway for the Yellowstone Youth Football league based out of Billings.
The league, a re-branding of Little Guy Football, offers a discounted registration fee of $165 through June. In July, the fee is $190 and in August it is $215.
Yellowstone Youth Football is affiliated with USA Football and the Heads Up Tackling program. The season will look similar to LGF, but has new management philosophies. There is a new operating structure, a new board of directors and a new set of financial controls.
Players ages 10 through 14 are eligible and one must turn 10 before Sept. 1. Players in eighth grade are welcome if their school does not offer a program.
Divisions available are C Squad for those in grades 4-5, B for grades 5-6, A for grades 6-7 and AA for grades 7-8. Teams are divided up by the location players live at and the schools they attend.
Practices begin the week of Aug. 18 and the first games are on Sept. 6. Games will be contested at Stewart Park, but practices will be closer to the neighborhood players live in. The season includes weekday games under the lights and Saturday games. The Rocky Bowl for each division will be Nov. 2.
Online registration is available at www.yellowstoneyouthfootball.com. In-person registration will be held on June 27 and June 30 from 5-9 p.m. at the equipment shed at Stewart Park. It will also be held July 19 at Universal Athletic Service from 8 a.m. to noon.
Volunteer coaches and referees are needed. If one is interested in coaching, fill out an application on the website. Every coach in the league will be Heads Up certified this season.
