BOULDER, Colo. - Junior Chelsea Lynnes was the top finisher for the Montana State-Billings women's cross country team at the high-profile Rocky Mountain Shootout.
Lynnes, from Miles City, finished 34th overall with a time of 23:42 for the 5.8-mile course. The event features many of the top Division I programs in the country.
The MSU-B women finished sixth in the nine-team Division II field. Adams State and Western State placed 1-2 in the team standings. Anjel Hoff (25:00) was 62nd for the Yellowjackets, followed by Tracie Overberg (77th, 25:56), Raquel McCarthy (88th, 26:31) and Kendra Bebee (94th, 27:24).
The MSU-B men placed ninth in the Division II meet standings. Adams State and Western State also placed 1-2 for the men.
Scott Brown was 79th for the Yellowjackets, covering the 8-kilometer course in 29:42. He was followed by Sam Hartpence (89th, 30:43), Ryan Archibald (96th, 31:29), Brendan Murray (103rd, 34:32) and Sean Hannifian (104th, 35:15). MSU-B's top runner entering the meet, freshman Joe Kragt, missed the race after being taken to the hospital during warm-ups.
