MISSOULA — Misael DeJesus and Sean Watson combined on a two-hitter to lead the Billings Mustangs over Missoula, 6-1, Tuesday night in Pioneer League action.
DeJesus (1-1), who started the game, went five innings and picked up the win after the Mustangs erupted for five runs in the top of the fifth inning. Watson relieved DeJesus in the sixth and pitched perfect ball for four innings, striking out five, to earn the save.
Watson has now thrown 7 2/3 innings of no-hit ball in his two relief appearances this season. He has also fanned nine batters.
The Mustangs pounded out six hits in the fifth, with four singles, a double and a triple. The triple, by shortstop Chris Valaika, drove in two runs.
Valaika, Jason Louwsma and Chris Heisey each recorded two hits, and Heisey stole his first two bases of the season.
Billings, now 5-3, concludes its three-game series against the Osprey with a 7:05 contest tonight.
