The Billings Junior Bulls improved their record to 14-3-4 and remained unbeaten in the MAHA Treasure State League after hosting the Missoula Bruins and Great Falls Americans.
The Junior Bulls traveled to Missoula on Dec. 19-20 and battled to a 1-1 tie with the Bruins, then knocked off the Missoula squad 4-1. Ray Scherer scored twice, while Matt Rose and Zane Barragree each recorded two assists during the weekend. Junior Bulls goalie Christian Butler was again strong, stopping 88 of 90 shots over the two-game stretch.
The Junior Bulls returned to Centennial Ice Arena last weekend for a pair of games against the Great Falls Americans. On Saturday, the Junior Bulls got goals from Colter Endy, Beau Milton and Scherer as they skated to a 3-3 tie. The teams met again Sunday, with the Junior Bulls peppering the Americans goaltender, Michael McDaniel, with 41 shots in a 5-1 win.
Great Falls scored first with a Dylan Anderson goal at the 6:14 mark of the first period. Billings answered midway through the second with a goal from Endy. The Bulls’ Jason Smith scored the first of his two goals on the day at the 13:07 mark of the third period on an assist from Seth Garriett. Smith capped the scoring when he found the back of the net with less than five seconds remaining.
