LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of Wyoming senior Tyson Johnson has been named co-player of the week for Mountain West Conference men's basketball.
Johnson, a 6-foot-7 forward from Long Island, N.Y., helped lead the Cowboys to a 1-1 record on the week, losing an overtime battle at first-place TCU (78-79) and defeating rival Colorado State (83-74) at home.
In the two games, Johnson averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He finished the week shooting 70.6 percent from the field (12-for-17) and 92.3 percent from the free-throw line (12-for-13).
At TCU, Johnson hit a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to send the game to overtime.
Johnson shared the weekly award with UNLV's Tre'Von Willis.
