The Los Angeles Daily News reported Monday that Montana head football coach Bobby Hauck is being considered for the position of defensive coordinator at UCLA.
The paper cited unnamed sources as saying that UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel will "speak with Montana coach Bobby Hauck."
Hauck coached with Neuheisel on staffs at UCLA, Colorado and Washington. Hauck also interviewed with Neuheisel last year for an assistant's job before deciding to stay with the Grizzlies.
The story said that current UCLA linebackers coach Chuck Bullough is the early front-runner for defensive coordinator.
Montana athletic director Jim O'Day said Tuesday night that he has not been contacted by UCLA.
"I have not heard a thing other than what I saw on television tonight," O'Day said, adding that Hauck was in his office on Tuesday. "I haven't heard anything. I know last year when (Neuheisel) wanted to talk to him he called me, but I haven't heard anything from them at this point."
Hauck, whose younger brother Tim is currently the defensive backs coach at UCLA, could not be reached for comment.
