Rocky Mountain College has announced the signing of two cross country runners - Richard Knowlton of Poplar and Kathryn Carrell of Las Vegas - for next season.
Knowlton is a two-time all-state performer at Poplar, finishing eighth at state as a senior and fourth as a junior. Poplar's team placed second at state during Knowlton's junior year.
"Richard should be able to contribute to the team immediately and help us move up in the conference next year," said Rocky coach Alan King. "I can see him improving dramatically in the next couple of years."
In track, Knowlton's bests include a 4:48 mile and 10:39 two-mile clocking.
As a senior at Arbor View High School in Las Vegas, Carrell placed 13th at the state championships in Boulder City, Nev.
"Katie came in first or second in nine of 11 races this year," said King.
Carrell will add depth to a young Rocky team that placed third in the conference last year and qualified one runner to nationals.
