Scotties run past Fort Benton, 39-6

GLASGOW - Josh Neumiller rolled up 192 yards on only seven carries, pacing a Glasgow 39-6 win over Fort Benton in a first-round Class B football playoff game on Saturday.

The ground game contribured to all six Glasgow touchdowns with Neumiller finding the end zone three times. Cade Flaten also scored on runs of one and seven yards and Derek Canen sealed the scoring with a 39-yard scamper.

Myles Kittleson led the Scotties defensively with 14 tackles. Chad Dawson and Canen each registered 10 apiece.

Glasgow will travel to Huntley Project for a quarterfinal game on Saturday. Both teams are 9-0.

Baker 10, Shepherd 2

BAKER - Baker scored all 10 points in the third quarter then made it hold up in a defensive 10-2 win over Shepherd in the first round of the Class B playoffs Saturday afternoon.

The defending state champion Spartans (7-2) will host Missoula Loyola in the next round.

Bryon Overton gathered a 15-yard pass from quarterback Robbie Gray in the third quarter for the Spartans' lone touchdown. Both team registered safeties.

Tanner Varner rushed 21 times for 99 yards for Baker, while Dalton Arnell added 64 yards on 12 carries.

The Spartan defense came up with four interceptions in the second half, including three in the fourth quarter. Defensive lineman Tyson Whitney had two interceptions, including one with less than a minute remaining to seal the victory for Baker. Teammate Slade Bettenhausen added 11 tackles. The Spartan defense had five interceptions for the game.

Justin Walker had 47 yards rushing for Shepherd and a game-high 22 tackles from his middle linebacker position.

Conrad 46, Colstrip 29

COLSTRIP - Eric Norby fueled a road win for Conrad with four rushing scores and 176 yards on the ground as Conrad topped Colstrip 46-29 in the first round of the Class B playoffs on Saturday.

Riley Styren's 50-yard interception return right before the end of the half followed a Norby 11-yard score as Conrad turned a 7-6 deficit into a 21-7 lead at the break.

"Norby was the key to the game today, he just had a great game," said Colstrip coach Mark Ator. "The two big touchdowns at the end of the (first) half probably sealed the deal for them. We dug a hole to deep to come back."

Cullen Keyes caught two touchdown passes from Andrew Torgerson and Torgerson ran for two more scores, but it wasn't enough to overcome Norby and the Conrad offense

Conrad will travel to Eureka for a quarterfinal matchup on Saturday.

FAIRFIELD - Mickey Miller hauled in seven catches for 136 yards and Brandon Sterling pounded out 94 yards on the ground as Fairfield remained unbeaten with a 43-0 shutout of Malta in first round Class B action on Saturday.

Miller caught touchdown passes of 46, 9 and 15 yards and Derek Lehr finished 15 of 22 with 244 passing and five scores - one on a run - in the rout.

Fairfield (9-0) will travel to Townsend in next Saturday's second round game.

TOWNSEND - Townsend road the legs of Colin Heffner and Raddlee Turcotte to a 41-6 triumph over Broadus in first-round Class B playoff action on Saturday.

Heffner carried the ball 23 times for 205 yards and scored on runs of 17 and 53 yards. Turcotte managed 95 yards on only eight carries and also scored twice.

Andy Newman, who intercepted two passes, led a Townsend defense that forced five turnovers on the day

Townsend will host Fairfield in next Saturday's quarterfinals.

EUREKA - Dalton Williams scored two touchdowns and rushed for 125 yards on 27 carries as Eureka defeated Florence 21-14 in the first round of the Class B playoffs Saturday.

Chad Price also went over the century mark for Eureka, rushing for 116 yards on 22 totes.

Senior Ben Dechart anchored the Lions' defense with 19 tackles, an interception and a pair of sacks.
