Josh Pelczar, an all-state football player at Billings West, has verbally committed to play for the Montana Grizzlies.
Pelczar informed UM defensive coordinator Kraig Paulson of his decision last week, shortly after Paulson and head coach Bobby Hauck made a visit to Pelczar's home.
"I thought it was a great opportunity for me," Pelczar said on Saturday. "It's a great place to be. They did a great job of recruiting me on my official visit to Missoula, and after meeting all the guys it felt like a good fit."
Pelczar, a 5-foot-9, 160-pounder, was a first-team all-Class AA selection at cornerback and punt returner in 2008. He was also chosen to the second team as a kicker and was an honorable mention choice as a receiver.
Pelczar caught 24 passes for 418 yards and six touchdowns for the Bears last season. He accumulated 454 return yards. Pelczar had 1,061 all-purpose yards, second-best on the team.
Pelczar, noting the Grizzlies as his only football offer, said he chose Montana over the possibility of running track and field at Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. Pelczar said he will likely run track at Montana, as well.
