The Friends of Pompeys Pillar’s mission is to develop the historic potential of Pompeys Pillar National Monument, the site of the only remaining physical evidence on the trail of the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1803-1806.” By working cooperatively with the BLM in the planning and administration of the site, the Friends of Pompeys Pillar successfully accomplishes this mission. Clark Days 2015

Clark Days are held at Pompeys Pillar each year on either the last weekend of July or the first weekend of August. In 2015, Clark Days will be held on the 209th anniversary of Clark’s visit to Pompeys Pillar, July 25th. The event commemorates William Clark’s stop at the site on his trip down the Yellowstone River. Activities include interpretive programs, demonstrations, nature walks, and a main presentation. The Saturday night of Clark Days is the only night of the year when overnight camping is allowed at the Pillar. The Bureau of Land Management has park rangers on duty at the visitor center to assist campers
