Northwest College has been serving students for 75 years. The world around us is always changing, and Northwest College is committed to evolving to continually meet students' needs.
Northwest College is a two-year residential college in Powell, Wyoming, serving as a mainstay in the small town since 1946. With about 1,400 to 1,500 students in attendance at any given time, Northwest College is dedicated in its entirety to the support of its students, preparing them for careers and life. And it is precisely this mission that is carried out by the admissions team at the school. The team is composed of four individuals — a senior office assistant, two admissions representatives and an admissions coordinator — whose various roles include application processing, answering admissions questions, on-the-ground recruiting, virtual recruiting, day-to-day functioning of the office and a number of other responsibilities.
The Northwest College admissions team can help students with class enrollment, class advising, financial aid advising and more.
The admissions team and admissions process as a whole are unique in their simplicity. “Our team is a one-stop enrollment services hub,” says Kendle Jeffs, admissions coordinator at Northwest College. “We’ve been cross-trained enough to help students with their initial inquiries, class enrollment, advising for classes and financial aid. We’re that one resource for each student as they start their college journey.”
The admissions process at Northwest College can be broken down into a series of simple steps. Once students complete their free application for admission, they can activate their student portal. Next, in order to become a student, they must provide documentation, which includes high school transcripts, college transcripts or GED documentation. After these documents are processed and accepted, the applicant is considered an admitted student and can enroll in classes. Before applicants are officially accepted as students, they can apply for scholarships and aid, giving them a general idea of the amount they’ll receive once accepted.
Northwest College's FAQ page can help answer many questions, however, admissions team members are always here to help.
Cost of tuition is a common question for the admissions team. Tuition is $105 per credit hour for in-state students, $315 per credit hour for out-of-state students and $158 per credit hour for students within the Western Undergraduate Exchange — a program that automatically decreases tuition for students from certain states. In addition, all students pay $51 per credit hour in student fees.
Northwest College mainly attracts students from its service area schools, which include Powell High School, Cody High School, Meeteetse School, Lovell High School, Heart Mountain Academy, Shoshone Learning Center, Rocky Mountain High School, Riverside High School, Greybull High School, Burlington High School, Worland High School and Ten Sleep High School. Students also come from nearby and neighboring states, including Montana, Utah, Idaho, Colorado and the Dakotas.
Northwest College and its admissions team is fully dedicated to supporting students and preparing them for careers and life.
Northwest College is more than just an institution — it’s a community. From the admissions team, the professors, to the staff and beyond, this college invests in its students. Northwest College has one of the highest completion rates in the state, ranking above the national average. “I believe we go above and beyond for each student — they’re more than just a number,” Jeffs says. “The people here truly care about the success of our students, and Northwest College gives us a real opportunity to make a difference in their future, from start to finish.”
