For many, home is more than a place to simply rest your head. It is the place we create many of our most cherished life experiences. It is the place we reconnect with our own identity and find solace after long days on the job. Investing in our homes and creating an environment that inspires contentment seems more ideal than not.
The 36th annual Home Improvement Show offers as many as 650 vendors to make home dreams a possibility. From March 1-3, exhibitors from all over the region pack MetraPark’s Expo Center and Montana Pavilion with the latest in home improvement technology, products and advice.
“Whether it is interior, exterior, buying or selling a home – there is something for everyone,” said Beau Hedin, event producer.
The Home Improvement Show has been a family affair from the beginning. Beau and his brother, Devon Hedin, grew up with the event as part of their lives. Their parents, Mark and Rhonda Hedin, instilled a passion in their sons to create a dynamic and helpful experience for sellers and potential buyers.

“The show brings exhibitors of all kinds – some that people don’t even realize exist in Billings. Rather than spending weeks and months researching and meeting potential contractors, they are all at the Home Improvement Show,” said Mark. “It is so convenient to see examples and variations of products to compare and see what fits for your home.”
For many attendees, it is also a way to gage the potential relationship between contractor and homeowner.
“You want someone who will work well with you and meet your needs. It’s like a marriage; the chemistry needs to be right,” said Mark.
If you aren’t quite ready to commit to any major projects, the show also offers great ideas, trends and upcoming products that have yet to hit the Billings market. For the DIY folks, advice and supplies are also on display and available.
Renters and potential homeowners are also encouraged to attend. Local bankers, mortgage companies and real estate agents will be onsite to answer questions. HRDC housing specialists will also be available for information on first-time homebuyer’s classes and other funding options.
Landscaping, roofing, hot tubs, custom fire pits, home theater systems, water features – you name it and the Home Improvement Show will have it. Including, fresh flowers and green grass right when you walk through the doors, compliments of Billings Nursery & Landscaping.
“It’s a breath of spring,” said Devon. “Your senses light up with all of the smells and colors.”
“It exudes an aura of happiness,” said Mark.
With a sense of renewal being the prominent theme at the spring Home Improvement Show, the Hedin family wants attendees to have an inspiring experience.
The show is family friendly. Kid’s activities will be dispersed throughout the show, including a building station courtesy of The Home Depot. Kids can build a project they get to take home, along with their own orange Home Depot apron. Food vendors of all kinds will also be there from open to close.
The Hedin family understands the emotional attachment to a home. They believe it is where we find much of our joy and display a great deal of our pride.
“Your home is an ongoing experience, not a one-time occurrence like going to a movie, concert or dinner. Your home is a day-in, day-out experience – it’s your life,” said Beau. “Make it the right experience.”
