State agency praises downtown Billings revitalization

Their visit was planned with the objective of learning from Billings’ local MMS organization (Downtown Billings) on the successes, challenges, and goals for downtown revitalization work. Zurcher previously partnered with the Downtown Billings team to bring the national conference for Main Street America coordinators to Billings in October 2025. Throughout this recent site visit, she was able to see firsthand the progress and continued momentum that has occurred in the ten months since her last visit.

In her full visit report, Zurcher shared: “Downtown Billings is thriving on all accounts, and the team is well connected to their constituents and are trusted partners in the community consisting of developers, entrepreneurs, and property owners. The Montana Main Street program has a goal of supporting communities that are actively involved in preserving and restoring downtown economies and historic districts. As such, Billings is recognized as an MMS community that demonstrates exceptional performance in revitalizing their downtown through preservation-based economic development. The staff at Downtown Billings are the downtown champions and their successes and work are met with the highest standards and local expertise.”
