BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Montana State University Billings men's golf team completed two rounds of the WWU Invitational at Bellingham Golf and Country Club, finishing 15th with a two-round team score of 602 before the tournament's scheduled final round was canceled due to heavy overnight rain and unplayable course conditions.
The Yellowjackets shot 305 in Monday's opening round before improving by eight strokes with a 297 in Tuesday's second round to finish with a total team 36-hole score of 602.
"Weather has been a challenge this week with rain canceling two of our scheduled six rounds," said head coach Adam Buie. "We were hoping to get back out there for another shot at Bellingham CC since it was the first time this starting five has played there. Can't control the weather, but on the bright side, it looks really great for Lake Hills coming up next week. We have a few days to rest up and hopefully go out and shoot some low scores at our home course."

The host, Western Washington won the team competition with a score of 562. Colorado Christian placed second at 569, followed by UBC Okanagan at 573. The event featured a field of NCAA Division II programs from across the West, including four other GNAC squads.
The 'Jackets were led by Aubrey Kelley, who finished tied for 53rd with a 151. Kelley opened with a 77 before responding with a 74 in the second round, finishing his tournament with a 2-over-par round. Mark Pramounmat was next for MSUB, tying for 58th at 152 after rounds of 75 and 77.
Bowdie Fox tied for 61st at 153, shooting an opening-round 84 before making one of the largest improvements in the field with a 69 in round two. Fox's 3-under-par 69 was the lowest round posted by a Yellowjacket during the tournament and moved him up the individual leaderboard. He also finished with eight birdies across the two rounds.
Pete Netrnilweerachot finished tied for 67th with a 154, recording consecutive rounds of 77. Netrnilweerachot was among the tournament leaders in par-5 scoring for MSUB and recorded an eagle during the 36-hole competition. Cameron Hackmann rounded out the Yellowjackets' scoring lineup, finishing tied for 79th at 160 after rounds of 76 and 84.
As a team, MSUB showed its strongest scoring during the second round, cutting eight strokes from its opening-round total. The Yellowjackets combined for 90 pars, 23 birdies and two eagles over the first 36 holes. Fox led the team with eight birdies, while Kelley and Netrnilweerachot each recorded an eagle during the tournament.
The Yellowjackets also showed improvement on the course's par-4s and par-5s throughout the tournament. The team's improved scoring in round two helped MSUB gain some momentum before the weather forced the cancellation of the final 18 holes.

MSUB will return to action at home for the Yellowjacket Fall Invitational, scheduled for Oct. 4-6 at Lake Hills Golf Course in Billings. The tournament will be the men's final event of the fall portion of their 2026-27 schedule.
